COLUMBIA COUNTY COUNCIL ON THE ARTS
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive of the Columbia County Council on the Arts. The Executive Director, with the Board of Directors, works to ensure that the CCCA accomplishes its mission and remains relevant to the needs of its diverse constituents.
MISSION: To produce programs that advance the arts and engage our county’s residents and visitors; provide services that support our county’s cultural organizations’, artists’ and residents’ participation in the arts, build collaborative partnerships within the county and beyond.
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR HAS THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES DISTINCT AND DISCRETE FROM THOSE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

Legal and operations: Files all legal and regulatory documents and monitors compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Oversees all CCCA activities.

Manages staff and day to day operations and promotes a smoothly functioning, efficient organization

Evaluates staff performances in accordance with CCCA personnel policies and makes recommendations for keeping or firing.

Assures organizational stability through production of minutes of committee meetings and manuals of office and project operations.

Financial management: Oversees the fiscal activities of the organization, including budgeting, reporting and audit, if appropriate. Oversees bill payment, proper recording of accounts payable and receivable, income projections and monthly bank reconciliations.

Community Relations: Assures quality and sufficiency of programs through adherence to NYSCA’s mandate for promoting both artistic excellence and inclusivity. Serves as an official liaison between the arts and non-arts communities and develops relationships with key constituents.

Professional Arts Management: Stays current on not-for-profit management and governance, philanthropy and fund development. Identifies issues, problems, activities and opportunities to facilitate policy recommendations, through maintaining open lines of communication to the membership and the community. Works with government officials, regulatory agencies, other not-for-profit organizations and volunteers to promote a healthy culture for the arts in Columbia County.
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR HAS THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

Defines the values, vision and goals of the CCCA, implementing the mission.

Manages the implementation process to assure timely attention to core issues and focuses Board attention on long-range strategic issues.

Works with the Finance and Fund Development committee to insure financing for short and long term goals: set goals, develops fund raising program, actively participates in donor solicitation.

Defines role(s) of Board of Directors and evaluates their performance, with the Nominating and Governance Committee.
