If it’s Columbus Day, it’s ArtsWalk!

This year, the Columbia County Council on the Arts (CCCA) is sponsoring its 17th annual ArtsWalk, celebrating the rich array of artists and arts activities in our beautiful corner of the world. On the weekend which may well boast the height of autumn color in the countryside, ArtsWalk encourages visitors to drive up and down scenic Route 66 for activities both in Hudson and, again, in Chatham!

This year, the celebration kicks off on October 1st with an incredible Literary Fundraiser at Basilica Hudson! Featuring NY Times bestselling authors, this evening will prove to be extraordinary with some of the hottest authors in the country! Then, on Friday, October 7th, enjoy dusk at Omi International Art Center with yet another special literary gathering! Saturday, October 8th, officially opens our 17th Annual Members Show with an Opening Night Party at the Fairhouse on the Columbia County Fairgrounds. From 6:00–8:00pm, the show will feature works in all media by CCCA members, plus musical entertainment, fine food and drink from area purveyors, and maybe a surprise or two! Party admission is $10 and free to exhibiting artists. The Members Show will be open for free all weekend. Be sure to visit the Fairhouse for the CCCA’s 1st annual Student Playwriting Contest! Winning area students will have the opportunity to perform their very own short plays before a live audience, with a special surprise performance! Look for dozens of activities in both destinations, all weekend long and all for free!

While enjoying the fall foilage in the area, take a stroll in Hudson and Chatham to enjoy the art of many local artists that will be on display in Windows on Warren and Windows on Main.
